Fall 2010... Although January officially starts the new year, September seems to be the month when things really kick off here at school and our center. It’s a time of new beginnings and new possibilities for how things can be. We’re back to school and we’re back on a schedule! We’ve had a bountiful summer of fruits and vegetables from our school garden and have been fortunate to be able to give them away to many families at the school. Thanks to wonderful parent volunteer support, the garden has been maintained so that it is not only a source of food for our community, but also a site of beauty in the neighborh ood.. A big thank you goes out to local State Farm Insurance agents who donated 300 back packs to our school and distributed them at our recent BACK TO SCHOOL PARTY on August 20. All 300 packs were gratefully received by children at the school.
Also, thanks to the Victor Valley Beauty College for giving of their time to provide free hair trims to our students at this BACK TO SCHOOL PARTY, as well.
One additional, recent, blessing to our center is a grant from the Willmas Charitable Trust at The Community Foundation serving Riverside and San Bernardino counties. This grant will allow us to provide nutritious foods and nutrition education programs for our children and families this school year and into next summer! Watch our web site to see all that this new funding will be doing for our families.
The web site calendar is regularly updated with all the new programs and events scheduled through the Family Center. Check it out!
