Summer 2010
As we close this school year, we want to acknowledge the fantastic support we have received this past year from community and parent volunteers.
Whether it is assisting in our community garden - planting, painting & weeding or fixing irrigation; sorting donated clothing for families; participating in leadership training and providing neighborhood outreach support; volunteering to mentor a student; or giving of financial resources and sharing talents with our center, in other ways, OUR FAMILY CENTER WISHES TO THANK EACH AND EVERY VOLUNTEER FOR THEIR SUPPORT! It is with this community spirit that we are able to provide the programs and services that we do for our families.

The first NEIGHBORHOOD LEADERSHIP ACADEMY celebrated their graduation in May 2010. These parents completed a nine month series of leadership classes and coordinated neighborhood outreach projects in the VISTA LOMA neighborhood. Plans are underway for more projects come Fall 2010!
If you are in the area and would like to see all that is growing in our garden, drive by the garden on Rancherias Rd. and check it out! Someone will be tending to the garden each day of summer as we begin harvesting fruits and vegetables.
All food grown in the garden will be harvested and shared with Yucca Loma families.
All Yucca Loma families are invited, as well, to participate in the summer YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT! nutrition classes. Click on our garden link for the dates of these classes. They’re FREE and they’re a fun way to get healthy eating tips and recipes! All classes will be held in the garden.
Have a safe and fun summer!
